Mini Assignment #2: Batman (Guest Post)

Hi all, Batman here. Tiffany specially invited me on for a guest post. It’s nice that I get to take some time away from crime fighting, even if it’s only to say something on a young kid’s brand-new blog. By the way, I’m so used to black and grey… I’ve never seen so much purple in my life. Well, this blog isn’t called “Four Purple Walls” for nothing. Anyway, I guess I should tell you a little more about my story.

A horrible event happened during my childhood. My parents and I were coming back from a show when a guy tried to rob us. He had a gun. Long story short, both Mom and Dad didn’t survive, and I was left alone. Ever since then, I vowed that I would make Gotham city a safer place for everyone. I studied martial arts, practiced using lethal weapons, and became a master at concealing my true identity. That’s my purpose. I’m constantly training, learning new things everyday. For the longest time, I considered myself a solo act and still prefer it that way. But lo and behold, a teen punk (who I will not name, and you know as “Robin” or “Boy Wonder”) shows up on my doorstep one day.

He essentially went through what I did, and I guess you could say I became his mentor. Despite me showing him the ropes, he taught me how sometimes its OK to join forces with other people and ask for help when you need it. Because of that, I’m grateful to have met him and taken him under my wing. (No pun intended) So when I joined the Justice League, (something I never thought I’d do) I knew they served a bigger purpose. There’s always going to be someone breaking into a bank or graffitiing back alleys. But with them, I was saving the entire world from things like extra-terrestrials, threats that, to this day, cannot be explained by science, and so much more. They only call me when they need me, but I admit I’m starting to feel like a part of the team. (Don’t tell the others I said that, The Flash especially- I’ll never hear the end of it)

Clearly, I don’t want to share who I really am, however, I’m aware the theme of this blog is novels that inspire and although my post isn’t what you normally see on a website about books, I hope you understand me better now after reading this.

This is Batman signing off.
