Process Post #1: Stranger Exercise

My stranger encounter was quite pleasant. I spoke to someone who seemed very friendly and happy to strike up a small conversation. Although our exchange did not last too long, it definitely differed in comparison to online interactions because, (I admit that) I am a shy, introverted person, so conversing online is much simpler for me. Nicolaus (2019) states how “many of us do anything to avoid contact” altogether, which absolutely rings true. The experience did not necessarily make me any happier (I already was in a fairly good mood) but it did prompt me to think about putting in more effort to connect with others/my peers. I once read that “if [one] goes through life without connecting to people,” truly- “how much could you call that a life?” (Hiddleston, 2019). Overall, what I appreciated from this exercise is the fact that it encouraged me to break out of my shell and comfort zone. I would not mind doing this particular activity again in the near future.

  1. Thank you so much! You have no idea how much this means to me. I started this blog in September and wasn’t sure if anyone would see it and take the time to comment.
