Process Post #2: Installation and Setup

Setting up the domain and installing WordPress was a very exciting undertaking for me. I’ve had (limited) experience with this tool from a previous job but never exercised absolute control over any website before. I thought about setting up my own blog a couple of years ago but felt hesitant at the time. However, I’m happy to say that so far it has been enjoyable as I get to be super creative with essentially a long term, ongoing project.

I chose a design that I felt was closest to what I always envisioned my website would look like. It relates to the vision board I created last week because I decided on a topic (inspiring books) that I felt reflects a really important part of who I am. I came across some difficulties near the beginning; I was not sure as to what I should concentrate on. There were several parts of my Venn Diagram I thought were good elements, which made me go back and forth between each one many times. As a result, my initial decision involved a more general focus: personal “encounters and interests.” I contemplated what my options were and ended up taking two days to do so. I contacted our T.A, Stephanie, to briefly discuss the issue. By having such a broad theme, there is an implication that I take on too much, simultaneously having the blog not being about anything. Taking her advice, I ultimately selected a passion of mine.

I did conduct some research on how to navigate/format WordPress, including going directly to WordPress’s support page(s), YouTube tutorials, and other “Q&A” platforms. I found certain aspects to be quite tricky, especially when a site is in an embryonic stage. It does spark some curiosity as to whether I decide to pursue coding or consider maneuvering advanced features in the future. Overall, I look forward to learning more throughout the course.

  1. I’ve been absent for a while, but now I remember why I used to love this site. Thank you, I¡¦ll try and check back more often. How frequently you update your web site?

  2. Great – I should certainly pronounce, impressed with your website. I had no trouble navigating through all tabs and related information ended up being truly easy to do to access. I recently found what I hoped for before you know it in the least. Reasonably unusual. Is likely to appreciate it for those who add forums or something, website theme . a tones way for your client to communicate. Nice task..
